The major divisions of nervous supply throughout the body are divided into: Cranial nerves (Which arise from the brain), and Spinal nerves (Which arise from the spinal cord), innervating different body parts. These form the Peripheral Nervous System.
Innervation is classified depending on their function. They can either be motor, sensory or mixed nerves. All cranial nerves, except for Vagus (cranial nerve no. 10), innervate regions of the head. The Vagus nerve extends further down to innervate thoracic and abdominal organs as well. Spinal nerves innervate the trunk.

So, the Vagus nerve innervates organs in the head, thorax and abdomen. I think injury to this nerve may lead to a lot of complications.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous, it is a nice post beyond my expectations.
